Title:  Health Room Substitute 

Reports to: Health Services Team Leader and/or Building Principal

Purpose and Objectives of the Position: Healthcare worker needed to substitute in school health room on an as needed basis.  Substitute pay will depend on individual’s healthcare experience and certifications/license they hold. 

Provide Nursing Assistance:

• Provides basic first aid and emergency care and assist with minor illnesses and assessments of students.
• Arrange transportation for ill or injured students.
• Record health room activity on daily log sheet.
• Record and administer medication as delegated by the School Registered Nurse 

Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Abilities Required:

• Current knowledge of basic human physical and psychosocial needs.
• Ability to apply primary health care techniques to specific patient situations.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to follow detailed written and verbal directions.
• Additional licenses or certifications may be required.
• Ability to observe and follow district policies at all times.
• Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner.
• Knowledge to triage emergency situations.
• Ability to implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
• Must submit a current TB Test, with in the last year.
• Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.
